Class - Silk & Salvage - Crazy Patchwork Piecing
Crazy Patchwork Piecing with Silk and Salvage - By Sue Fox & Julia McLeod
Sunday September 8th 1.30 to 4.30 pm
Learn & practice a great technique for making new quilts from rescued materials–– Sue Fox and Julia McLeod will share a successful technique for working with silk fabrics and more. This improvisational 'crazy patchwork' piecing is more formulaic – and much easier - than it might appear at first glance.
Do you have a stash of Grandpa's ties? Leftovers from making silk pillows or garments? Old silk scarves? Join us as we demonstrate a great way to tame silk's challenging qualities and guide you in your project of choice.
Bay Quilts sells gorgeous bundles of Dupioni silks. Use these as a starting point or add them to fabrics you already have.
In this afternoon workshop you can combine an array of fabrics from silk ties and garments to cottons from your stash to create a beautiful pillow cover – or make a start on something larger like the Pomegranate Quilt shown here!
Your silk or salvaged fabrics - bring what you have: Neckties, furnishing silks, dress-maker's scraps, any interesting treasures.
