Workshop - Saturday, November 2nd (12-4pm)
Liberated Techniques – Baskets
In this process class you will not be making a specific quilt but will learn the technique and gain the confidence to make your own unique basket blocks. Whether you choose to work large or small, use whimsical or traditional fabrics, your baskets will be original and charming. You will learn how to vary your basket shapes, sizes, handles and make them all fit together.
Baskets: Bring a variety of prints, solids and/or a combination that work together in either ¼ yard cuts or fat quarters. Handles will be made from bias cuts, either from one fabric or scrappy. Consider bringing ric rac to use as handles or as added detail to your basket. You will want to have enough fabric for at least 2-3 baskets.
Background: Bring at least 1 yard total for your background whether you choose different backgrounds for each block or use the same fabric throughout.
Sewing machine in good working order - including foot pedal, cord and sewing manual. I recommend bringing at least one extra machine needle and a few extra bobbins wound and ready to go if needed.
Basic sewing supplies: thread, pins, scissors, seam ripper, etc.
Mat, ruler and rotary cutter (including a new blade and an extra). *Highly recommended: 8” or larger square ruler.
Bring a piece of flannel or batting that can be used as a design board in class and to transport your work home intact.
***Please mark all your supplies with your name or some identifying mark.
