Class - For the Birds Quilt by Sondra Von Burg
Workshop - Saturday, January 25th (12-4)
You don’t have to go outside to enjoy these birds! This fun bird bird block is great for using up scraps, and it is easy to create variations for a whole flock. Sondra will take students through the steps to creating there own birds, and then show how to vary the basic block for a number of different bird positions. You’ll be tweeting in no time!
Minimum yardage for background: recommended, 1 1/2. (It really depends on how large you intend to make this quilt top. 1 block uses a rectangle of 14x8”, so you should be able to get 12 out of a yard.)
Scraps: anything goes! (5 inch square is the largest scrap you’ll need for a wing.) Darks, mediums, lights, brights, patterns, solids, tone-on-tones.
Rotary cutter, ruler, and mat
neutral colored thread
sewing machine (Bay Quilts can rent you a machine for $5.00 if you don’t want to bring yours.)
